The Latin America Earthquake Scoreboard

Every earthquake forecast DeepMap AI issues is locked with a digital fingerprint and recorded on the Bitcoin blockchain before the event. This is the public record for Latin America: hits and misses, and no forecast is ever removed. You do not have to trust us. Check the fingerprints yourself.

This is not an alarm siren. Systems like SkyAlert and SASSLA detect a quake that has already started and give you a few seconds. We forecast periods of higher risk days ahead. It is a different tool, meant to work alongside them, never to replace them.

Three regions with our strongest record

We check against the USGS earthquake catalog, so a miss is a real miss and shows up the day it happens. Coverage is labeled coverage. It counts how many quakes we had a logged forecast for. It is never a skill claim.

Coverage, worldwide, last 30 days

…

Coverage counts the quakes we had a forecast on file for. A longer list catches more quakes, so coverage alone says little. It is not a skill claim.

Is this better than chance?

On the strict test, the Area Skill Score in the table below, our forecasts score about 0.5, where 0.5 is luck. That test asks whether we catch more earthquakes than we would by putting the same amount of ground on alert at random. The part of our record that beats its normal odds is DeepMap AI's 7-day watch, shown at the top of this page. Both can be checked against public earthquake catalogs, which is why we publish the unflattering number too.
